Samsung Beyond Studio at VIVID Sydney

Project Overview

Working in partnership with Cheil, Exposure Displays delivered the Samsung Beyond Studio at VIVID Sydney, Australia’s largest festival of light, music, and ideas. The project was part of Samsung’s global Galaxy Studio campaign and became one of the festival’s landmark activations, immersing visitors in Samsung’s world of innovation through interactive experiences, large-scale light installations, and architectural spectacle.

Vision

Cheil engaged Exposure Displays to realise Samsung’s vision of a large-scale public activation that would:

• Showcase the Galaxy ecosystem through immersive, hands-on experiences.
• Capture the attention of VIVID’s multi-million-strong audience with a bold architectural presence.
• Blend art, technology, and interactivity into a seamless festival environment.
• Deliver a safe, durable activation that could withstand weeks of high foot traffic and variable weather.

Delivery

• Architectural Build: Constructed the Studio using 1,000 sqm of acrylic and 2,000 sqm of engineered timber.
• Lighting Integration: Installed over 20 km of fibre optic cabling — the length of 40 Olympic swimming pools — powering more than 4 million individual light sources.
• Immersive Experiences: Integrated Galaxy product showcases including photography, VR/AR activations, wearables, and interactive tech zones.
• AV & Synchronisation: Delivered large-format LED walls and immersive light fields, synchronised with VIVID Sydney’s broader lightscape.
• Compliance & Logistics: Managed city approvals, safety compliance, and logistics for installation in Sydney’s Circular Quay — one of the busiest and most regulated event spaces in the country.

• Massive Reach: Attracted audiences in the hundreds of thousands, contributing to VIVID Sydney’s overall visitor total of more than 2 million people.
