Project Overview

Promovans partnered with B&D to develop, design, and prototype the “B&D To You” concept before expanding it into a fleet of 70+ custom promotional vehicles. These vans served as both mobile showrooms and mobile points of sale, giving customers the opportunity to experience B&D garage doors and technology firsthand at their homes or local communities.

Vision

B&D’s vision was to:

  • Bring the retail experience directly to customers, making the buying process more convenient and engaging.
  • Showcase large-format products, such as garage doors, in a mobile environment where customers could see and test products before purchase.
  • Create a flexible fleet of promotional vehicles that could adapt to different campaigns and locations across Australia.
  • Ensure consistency in brand presentation while scaling to dozens of vehicles.

Delivery

  • Prototyping & Expansion: Began with a prototype van to test and refine the concept before scaling up to more than 70 vehicles nationally.
  • Tailored Modifications: Overcame long wait times for new vehicles by adapting designs to fit multiple manufacturers, including Ford, Renault, and LDV.
  • Custom Fit-Outs: Integrated product displays, branding, and sales tools into each vehicle, enabling staff to demonstrate and sell products on the spot.
  • Extended Warranty: Provided a five-year warranty on all fit-out work—well beyond some manufacturer component warranties—reflecting confidence in Promovans’ craftsmanship.
  • Fleet Consistency: Delivered uniform quality and branding across the fleet, despite variations in vehicle type and size.

Impact

  • National Rollout: Successfully deployed over 70 vans across Australia, expanding B&D’s reach directly into customers’ homes and communities.
  • Sales Growth: Enabled an innovative mobile retail strategy that directly supported sales growth by shortening the path to purchase.
  • Durability: Vehicles required minimal maintenance or repairs thanks to robust fit-outs and long-life components.
  • Customer Engagement: Created a hands-on, personal experience that helped B&D build trust and loyalty with its customers.
  • Brand Confidence: B&D’s trust in Promovans’ ability to deliver quality at scale positioned the vans as a cornerstone of the company’s customer engagement strategy.
